GAS STOVE BURNER WON’T LIGHT
FIXED IN 10 SECONDS
 
This is one of my very favorite fast repairs to get your gas stove burner not only lighting again but also with a much more robust flame.  The only tool you’ll need is a straightened paperclip and maybe a flashlight. You’ll feel like Macgyver and be your family’s Hero.
 
The front burners of many gas stoves start to have problems with lighting or end up with a weak flame due to a partially blocked gas orifice or (jet).  Usually it’s the front burners since they are used more often.  When pots boil over, some of the liquid contents (milk) end up in the little hole where the gas comes out. 

EASY STEPS:
 
  1. Straighten said paperclip
  2. Lift up and remove the burner cap
  3. Insert end of paperclip in small hole in the center of the
          Brass gas orifice and wiggle it around.  That breaks up the clog and                  now gas flows and it lights easily
     4.  Cook yourself your favorite dish and celebrate : ) 

*If you still just get the click, click, click without any lighting; then the spark isn’t strong enough and you just need to do a little bit of cleaning.  Use a Q-tip and rubbing alcohol to clean the white igniter and the area near the igniter.  Lightly Scrubbing the area with a wire brush can really help.  Also good to scrub the underside of the burner cap and where the cap sits on the burner.

WHIRLPOOL WASHER NOT SPINNING-10 MIN. ZIP-TIE FIX
 
This is one of the easiest appliance repairs you can do.
This is designed for a series 80 direct drive washer that isn’t spinning or draining.  The fix is very easy and only takes a few minutes.
 
NEEDED:
1 ZIP (CABLE TIE) TIE
PHILLIP’S HEAD SCREWDRIVER
 
STEPS:
 
  1. Unplug washer
  2. Remove 2 Phillip’s head screws holding on lid switch
  3. Reach in and pull lid switch to the left to expose it for work.  It is easier to get to if you tilt the tub a little to the right to make it easier to pull out.
  4. Wrap a zip-tie around the lid switch as tightly as possible. This will secure the two halves of the lid switch that have separated due to weakened glue.  (if there is a metal piece in your way, you can break it off ).
  5. Cut off any excess zip-tie.
  6. Reinstall the lid switch with the 2 phillip’s head screws and plug back in to test it.  It should start to drain and spin right away, and you are a Hero once again : )
